- As a disclaimer, we know the author. But, we purchased several copies of this book, one for us to keep and some to give as gifts to others, and it's a great book.
Nantucket island is itself an intersting and unique place, and the book shows it off, both as it is and was with a historical perspective over time. The fact that the presentation is all from postcards adds an additional dimension on the perspectives and cultures of past periods, and a glance at a medium (postcards) that I think is fading into history.
We think the book is well laid out and beautifully presented, a real collector piece (over-used term but true here). It makes a relatively inexpensive "coffee table book" to show off as much as something to curl up with, relax, and enjoy, whether you've been to Nantucket or have not and wonder about it. And, it's wrapped in history and popular culture, like finding a box of old family photos in the attic, quite nice and quite unique.
